Cowboy Rich

One day, a waiter named Rich discovered an art style.

The restaurant was slow and Rich decided to doodle on a notepad that had orders scribbled on the back. Those doodles became the style and the framework for Rich’s art moving forward. The style was heavily inspired by African busts and statues that decorated his grandmother’s home, as well as the art of Aaron Douglas and Kerry James Marshall. They also were moved by art deco, tribalism, murals on the northside of Milwaukee, Jazz, Funk, and Blues.

Taking inspiration from almost anywhere, Rich started painting in 2015. Since then Rich has taken on the artist name, Coyote Rich. Which arrived as a call tag while working as an over the road truck driver. Jobs have come and gone but the love of art has always remained. Art became a way of self-discovery, therapy, spirituality, and meditation for Rich. The art is filled with texture as well as meaning. Rich will be more than happy to sit and talk with you about any of their pieces!

Rich also works in other mediums such as photography, sewing, singing, music mixing and production, dancing, woodworking, creative writing, and some graphic design.
